2. What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files that websites may store on your computer, phone or other device.
Cookies can perform different functions, such as:
- enabling essential website functionality;
- remembering preferences;
- maintaining a user session;
- measuring website usage;
- supporting security;
- measuring advertising performance; or
- enabling advertising or behavioural tracking.
Similar technologies can include local storage, pixels, tags, software development kits and other technologies that store information on, or access information from, a user’s device.
References to “cookies” in this policy include similar technologies where appropriate.
3. Irish cookie rules
Irish law generally requires a website to obtain consent before storing information on, or accessing information from, a user’s device.
Limited exemptions apply where the technology is:
- strictly necessary to provide a service expressly requested by the user; or
- used solely to transmit a communication over an electronic communications network.
Cookies and tracking technologies used for purposes such as analytics, targeted advertising or conversion tracking generally require consent before they are activated.
Where consent is required, Authaeon will not intentionally activate the relevant technology before consent has been obtained.
4. Cookies currently used by www.authaeon.com
At the date of this policy, Authaeon does not intentionally use cookies or similar technologies on www.authaeon.com for:
- website analytics;
- behavioural profiling;
- targeted advertising;
- advertising personalisation;
- advertising conversion tracking; or
- cross-site tracking.
In particular, the use of Meta advertising to promote Authaeon or collect enquiries through Facebook or Instagram does not, by itself, mean that Meta tracking technologies are installed on www.authaeon.com.
Authaeon may use strictly necessary technical technologies where required for the secure and reliable operation of the website.
Strictly necessary technologies are not used for advertising or behavioural profiling.
5. Current cookie inventory
Authaeon does not currently intentionally set non-essential cookies on www.authaeon.com.
If strictly necessary cookies or similar technologies are introduced by Authaeon or its website infrastructure, this policy will identify, where applicable:
- the name of the cookie or technology;
- the provider;
- its purpose;
- whether it is a first-party or third-party technology; and
- its duration or expiry period.
This policy will be updated if the technologies used by the website change.
6. Meta advertising
Authaeon may advertise its services through Meta platforms, including Facebook and Instagram.
Authaeon may also use Meta lead forms hosted directly on Facebook or Instagram to allow prospective customers to submit enquiries.
Facebook and Instagram are operated independently by Meta Platforms Ireland Limited.
When you use Facebook, Instagram or a Meta lead form, Meta may use cookies and similar technologies on its own platforms in accordance with Meta’s own policies.
Those technologies are controlled by Meta rather than by www.authaeon.com.
Information that you choose to submit to Authaeon through a Meta lead form may subsequently be provided to Authaeon. Authaeon’s processing of that personal data is explained in our Privacy Notice.
7. Links to third-party websites
Authaeon may link to third-party websites or services.
When you leave www.authaeon.com and visit another website, that website may place its own cookies or use other tracking technologies.
Authaeon does not control cookies or tracking technologies used independently by third-party websites.
You should consult the relevant third party’s cookie and privacy information if you want to understand how it uses those technologies.
8. Google Analytics
Authaeon intends to use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use www.authaeon.com and to help us improve the website and evaluate interest in our services.
Google Analytics is not currently active on www.authaeon.com.
If and when Google Analytics is enabled, it may process information such as:
- pages viewed and interactions with the website;
- approximate geographic information;
- browser and device information;
- session information; and
- online identifiers used to distinguish visitors and sessions.
Google Analytics uses cookies and similar technologies for these purposes.
Analytics cookies are not strictly necessary for the operation of the website. We will therefore obtain your consent before enabling Google Analytics where consent is required by law.
If you do not consent to analytics cookies, Google Analytics will not be activated for your visit through our consent mechanism.
When Google Analytics is implemented, this Cookie Policy will be updated to identify the specific cookies used, their purposes and their applicable durations.
You will be able to withdraw or change your analytics consent at any time through the website’s cookie settings.
9. Advertising and conversion tracking
Authaeon does not currently intentionally deploy advertising pixels, conversion-tracking cookies or similar advertising tracking technologies on www.authaeon.com.
If technologies such as Meta Pixel, Google Ads conversion tracking or comparable advertising technologies are introduced in the future, Authaeon will:
- provide appropriate information about their use;
- obtain consent before activating them where required;
- provide appropriate choices concerning advertising technologies; and
- update this Cookie Policy to describe the technologies actually being used.
10. Managing your choices
Where www.authaeon.com uses only technologies that are strictly necessary for a service you request, those technologies may operate without consent where permitted by law.
If Authaeon introduces cookies or tracking technologies that require consent, you will be given a mechanism to accept or reject them before they are activated.
Where different categories of non-essential technologies are used, you will be able to make appropriate choices between those categories.
You will also be able to withdraw or change your consent.
Withdrawing consent will not affect the lawfulness of processing that occurred before consent was withdrawn.
11. Browser controls
Most web browsers also allow you to view, block or delete cookies through their settings.
Browser settings operate separately from any consent controls provided by Authaeon.
Blocking all cookies may affect the operation of some websites, including functionality that relies on strictly necessary cookies.
12. Personal data
Some cookies and tracking technologies may involve the processing of personal data, such as online identifiers, device information or information about how a website is used.
Where Authaeon processes personal data obtained through cookies or similar technologies, that processing is also subject to our Privacy Notice and applicable data-protection law.
13. Changes to this Cookie Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy if:
- the technologies used by www.authaeon.com change;
- we introduce analytics or advertising technologies;
- our service providers change;
- our website functionality changes; or
- applicable legal or regulatory requirements change.
The current version will be published on www.authaeon.com and will state the date on which it was last updated.
Where a change requires consent, the relevant technology will not intentionally be activated until the required consent has been obtained.
